Agency Show and Tell: A Journey Through Pictures
By Jennifer Rudloff, Copywriter
If you’ve wandered upon this blog post thinking you might find some really great, inspiring creative work … surprise, you will! It might just look a little different than what you were thinking. You see, this is not a blog post about our work. Rather, it’s about some of the people behind our work.
Today, in our agency’s Creative Caffeine gathering, Bill, a production artist on our team, led us on a trip down memory lane. He instructed us all to collect some photos from home and bring them to our gathering. We met around a table in the agency’s loft area, where each of us had placed our stack of pictures facing down. I excitedly wondered what would be revealed. How far back and in depth would we go? What would the pictures say about each person? Laurie, the agency’s creative partner, shared that she was curious if the pictures would show any early signs of the professions we ended up choosing.
When you were young, dreaming about what you wanted to be or do when you grew up, did you ever say, “I want to work in a marketing agency”? I don’t think any of us were that specific. In fact, a few of us shared that we went through several different “I want to be a _______” claims in our youth before venturing into our actual career path(s). It was fun, nonetheless, to try and look for signs.
What was interesting about this exercise was to see the journey each person has taken so far to get where they are. In today’s busy world, how often do we stop and take a look back at our lives, or stop to really get to know those around us?
As each picture was turned over and added to the pile, and we learned a little about the moment captured, we had a few laughs, we got to see expressions of creativity and individuality that make each person who they are, and we gained a greater overall appreciation for those we work with on a daily basis.
Check out the pictures of some of us in our younger years and see if you can figure out who is who (answer key below). If you’re unfamiliar with any of these FMS team members, click through to our bios and learn more. And most importantly, take some time to do the same with your own team, group or even your family. Time passes so quickly … don’t forget to pause to reflect on the journey.
